Hello!
I am sure some of you are scratching your head and thinking, Wasn't that my Early Elementary Music teacher? The answer is YES. I have been bopping around to different teaching positions at Mattawan for the past 18 years. I started out as a 7th grade math teacher, then I taught 7th grade ELA for eight years. I taught the Middle School choir for a semester, and then moved to the Early Elementary. I taught music as well as first and second grade. I have six true passions in life: teaching, writing, reading, nature, advocating for childhood cancer, and music. After I finally finished my Masters in the Teaching of English from Western Michigan University, I started thinking about sneaking back to my original stomping grounds: The Middle School. As your teacher, we can really dive deep into that reading and writing love. So, here I am! I am back and ready to make this year the best year ever. It will be a year of incredible growth and tremendous learning. My goal as your teacher is to make sure you feel like this place called school is a place where you feel like you can be your true self, where you can take creative risks in your learning, and where mistakes are a GOOD things because we learn the most from those. I hope that you know I will celebrate you as a unique person. I will see you as the incredible individual you are, and walk beside you throughout our time together as I challenge you to push yourself by learning at a pace that is right for you. You will hear that a lot this year, "Is that the best fit for you?" When you find that best fit in your learning, and challenge yourself with goals to push yourself a little more every single day, you're going to witness the magic of learning and we are going to celebrate that. So, let's do this! Let's learn amazing new things that make us say, "WOW!" I can't wait. |
